Pineapple trend

Simply: Pineapples

After painting my room I had to wash the brushes, whilst doing this I couldn't resist taking a photo of the lovely colour the water turned.
(Is this normal?)
Check out my previous post to see how I painted my wall.

DIY room stencilling

Aloha,
For a long time i have been pondering over how to decorate my room. I've been searching pinterest, tumblr, blogs for any inspiration, but have had trouble sticking with one.
Finally this rut has ended and i have chosen what I'm going to do! Oh yeah!

DIY
The finished design looks as shown in the image below. Smaller tightly packed triangles at the top right which enlarge and separate further to the bottom left.

To create this you will need:
  • Paint (i used Dulux 'Bongo Jazz 3')
  • Low tack masking tape (make sure it is low tack so not to rip off any paint that's already there)
  • Paint brushes
  • Sponges
  • Stencils
  • Ruler
I ended up using a sponge as i didn't like the streaks created by the paintbrushes.

Next, decide where to place the triangles and what size to make them. I'm pretty impatient so i gave up measuring all the triangles and got stuck in creating different sizes and proportions. However, I would advice measuring them out if you are a bit OCD as it will start to really annoy you seeing the slight difference everyday ;)

Now dab on the paint as it gives a more even finish without paintbrush marks!!
When the paint has dried peal off the masking tape and voila TRIANGLES.

Illustration inspiration

Hello

Exams are finally over and I can now relax with summer approaching! Since I have got more time on my hands I have been visiting art universities and getting inspired by the work. Recently I have really been inspired by Illustration. I enjoy the simplicity and quirkiness of the sketches and bright or pastel colours.
Below are some of the people that have inspired me the most, and I hope they do the same for you.
:D

My first inspiration is Ruby Taylor, she is a London illustrator who produces editorial illustrations, murals, t-shirt designs, stationery and prints. As you can see in my images i adore the fruit, just makes me want to eat them.

Another artist that has inspired me is David Shillinglaw. His designs are more cartoon based but i adore the quirkiness and how unique and original his style is.
